I have a Flex a lite fan insalled but I wanted a way to turn it on manually, we get a lot of 110 plus degree dayshere, so I went to Radio Shack and bought a SPST lighted dash switch. After I got it home I realized that the switch did not work as I need it to. It has 3 pins. Pin 1 is ground (for the LED) pin 2 is the for the load and pin 3 is for 12v input for the LED and to be sent out to the load. Unfortunetly The fan is swiched on by the presence of a ground, not 12 volts. I wanted to be able to use the switch as well as have it lighted when on. So I thought about it and decided to use the 12 volts from the switch to activate a relay that will pass a ground to the fan. I wired it up and wonders never cease it worked! This is a shot of the fan relay. |
